Sunday's Sermon: A Sermon Challenge

Before preaching the below sermon, I sent out a church-wide email inviting people to remember the sermon in its entirety from one week to the next.  I let them know there is a rhyme and a reason for doing what I am doing and to bear with me as we went through it.  Next week, I will provide the reason I did what I did and its implications.

Sunday's Sermon:

Do what Jesus says.  Amen.

If I were in your church I would be holding by breath. Teresa de Cepeda y Ahumada. Faustina Kowalska. Jesus appeared to them, bodily, as a real person. Both went to the Church to discern the apparitions.

Without the Church, we cannot discern the course of action when "Jesus" "tells" us to do something.

This morning there is another brilliant offering from the ELCA. Below is a total and complete twist of the words of Jesus. Where is Confession? Where are basic morals? All we hear about is saccharine "kindness." Baloney!
