A Prayer

Dear Lord,

I'm pretty sure since you generally keep an eye on things down here, you know about our drought.  It's been going on for a couple of years, and things are looking pretty bad.

Stock tanks are holding a lot less than usual.

The ground is moist thanks to the rain you sent this winter, but it isn't very deep.  Crops and hay aren't going to make much if we don't get some rain.

There's a pretty big fire threat since most of the grassland is dry, and I personally hate to see Your creation blackened.  I know it usually comes back nice and green, but you can accomplish the same thing with several inches of rain.

Which brings me to ask, if I might be so bold, for some of that wet stuff falling from the sky.

We could use about 10 inches or so, if that's not being too greedy.

Of course, we'd prefer it spaced out over several weeks, but if you want to dump it on us all at once, we'll take that too.

Tough as it gets, we know we rely on you.  We know you'll send rain eventually.  We'd just prefer it sooner than later.

Amen.
